Best Fuchsias by Stephan Buczacki
Stefan Buczacki is well-known in the UK as a TV presenter, radio broadcaster, journalist and writer.
His enthusiasm, (which certainly comes through in this book,) for all
aspects of gardening has brought the subject alive for millions of
people all over the world.
- Following
the Introduction, there is an extremely fascinating history. Did
you know that the fuchsias were first discovered by a Pere Charles
Plumier, a French priest turned botanist, in the late 17th century
during the reign of Louis XIV. He named them after a German
herbalist and Professor of Medicine, Charles Fuchs, who had died 137
years earlier.
- The book is easy reading and contains expert advice on care and cultivation on a wide range of fuchsias,
- Features over 125 specially commissioned colour photographs that have that ‘must have’ effect!
- Has
a comprehensive guide to recommended varieties and the ideal
location/planting method, depending on the hardiness of the plant to
suit various climatic positions.
- Good general information on pruning and training, propagating, and pest and disease control.
Certainly a worthwhile read!
